Is It Easy To Return An Item?
Yes, simply give us a call at 888.899.8776 or you can email our support team at support@audioadvice.com. Many times our team of experts can help figure out why the product might not be working like you expected and get things fixed over the phone, so don’t be surprised if we ask a few questions, we love troubleshooting!
If our tech help can not make you happy, we will email over a return shipping label with a Return Number.
Hopefully, you saved all of the original item’s box and packaging inserts. You will want to pack back up your return or exchange in the same way it came out of the original box. Once you have everything packaged correctly, tape the box on the top and bottom to assure it stays together. If Audio Advice shipped the item to you inside a second box, it's a good idea to use that same extra box to help prevent damage on its way back to us. To avoid it accidentally coming back to you, use a magic marker to cross out the old shipping label or just tear it off.
The return shipping label we send you will have our address on it, just make sure you take the box to the right shipper (UPS, FEDEX, or USPS) as per the label.
If you are close to one of our stores, please let us know if it is more convenient for you to return it to us directly. You will still need to get a return number by contacting us and shipping and/or restocking charges may apply.
When Will I See My Refund?
It usually takes around 7-14 days for the refund to show up on the payment method you used. We do inspect all returns for damage and accuracy of the item inside the box before issuing a refund. Some items may be subject to shipping and restocking fees.
Can I Exchange My Purchase For Something Different?
Sometimes those big speakers just don’t fit in the room or you might have bought a small subwoofer and later found out you’d love a bigger one. If you would like to make an exchange within 30 days of receiving your item, just give us a call at 888.899.8776 or email support@audioadvice.com and we will help work out the details. Additional shipping charges and return costs may apply.
How Do I Cancel An Order?
If the item has already shipped out or is a special order item, it is not possible to cancel the order. Please contact us at 888.899.8776 or email support@audioadvice.com to start the return process.
What If I Find Shipping Damage?
We need to know right away about any shipping damage. Please contact us at 888.899.8776 or email support@audioadvice.com within 48 hours of your delivery so we can get the ball rolling on making things right. It’s very helpful to take some pictures and email them to us if possible.
Can I Refuse A Shipment?
You can, but unless the item is damaged, shipping and restocking fees will be deducted from your refund. If your item arrives damaged and you are lucky enough to be there, snap some quick pics and refuse the order. Then contact us so we can get a replacement on the way.
What Happens If My Order Is Defective?
This is actually pretty rare, most consumer electronics work fine out of the box 99.9% of the time. We’d like for you to contact us first by calling 888.899.8776 or email support@audioadvice.com so we can help get to the bottom of things. If your item is indeed defective during the first 30 days, we can usually exchange it for a new, replacement unit.
What About Service After 30 Days?
Audio Advice has a great relationship with all of our brands and can help you with warranty service by the brand after our 30-day guarantee period. Even after the warranty expires, we can arrange for service by the brand on products purchased from Audio Advice. Just call 888.899.8776 or email support@audioadvice.com.
How Do You Determine A Restocking Fee?
You may not believe it, but sometimes we receive items back that were put in the box with zero packaging and are completely destroyed or are missing many of the pieces that came with the item. We also track serial numbers and will get back different serial numbers. We’ve even seen different items than what we shipped out be returned. However, it’s very important to package your return properly so that nothing goes missing or gets damaged in shipping, which will result in a restocking fee or even no refund at all. If a product is opened and the market value of the product is reduced, then a restocking fee may be applied to the cost of restocking and the reduced market value of the product. The bottom line is if you treat us fairly, we will do the same.
Audio Advice strives to provide industry-leading support and service while also maintaining the lowest prices available on products for our customers. We work hard with our vendors to bring our customers the best products at each price point. As a part of that process, we work with our vendors to provide the lowest pricing in our stores and on our website.
Our prices should always be the same as any other authorized dealer, including big-box retailers and major online retailers.
If you believe that you have found a lower advertised price from a legitimate authorized seller, call us and let us know so we can make sure we can correct any inadvertent error on our side. As a matter of policy, we update our prices automatically if a vendor changes its authorized pricing policies, so we generally have the best prices all the time. Increasingly, there are knock-off copies of products online, usually sold by non-authorized dealers.
Please be sure that the item meets the following conditions:
- The item is brand new, in stock, and available for purchase
- The item has the identical model number, color, etc as the item on our site.
- The seller is an authorized dealer
As always, our goal is to provide a terrific customer experience, including industry low prices. We appreciate your support.
Overview
This article is about the brand new Epson Pro Cinema LS9000 home theater projector. This new model takes much of what made the Epson LS12000 so popular and brings that same core performance down to a lower price point, while still delivering impressive results. In this guide, we’ll break down what makes the LS9000 such a compelling addition to Epson’s Pro Cinema lineup and why we expect it to become one of the most popular projectors available for under $4,000.

With a motorized lens and memory presets, Epson’s 3-chip 3LCD imaging system, and 2,200 lumens of brightness, the LS9000 packs a serious punch for the price. We were excited to get our hands on an early sample and see how Epson’s engineers managed to deliver this level of quality and flexibility without pushing it out of reach. Whether you’re building a dedicated home theater or looking to upgrade an older projector, this overview will help you decide if the LS9000 is the right fit for your setup.
Design & Build Quality
To start, the new Epson LS9000 maintains the same compact form factor as the LS12000 at around 20 inches wide, 18 inches deep, and 8 inches high. It weighs only 28 pounds, features a matte black finish, feels solidly built, and comes with a 3-year warranty from Epson.
Inside, they’ve engineered the fans to operate at a maximum of just 30 dB and as low as 22 dB in Eco mode. That’s quieter than most ambient room noise. We’ve spent countless hours testing projectors in our home theater lab, and we always evaluate fan noise since it can influence where you’ll want to place the projector. After stress testing the new LS9000, we were amazed at just how quiet the fans ran. It’s easily one of the quietest projectors we’ve ever tested!
We’ve also found in our testing that projectors vary greatly in light output from the closest throw distance to the farthest for the same size screen. Epson, like many, does drop light output as you move it back, so it's great to see the fan so quiet, which will enable you to place it at its closest throw distance range for the most light output. As a matter of fact, we put all of the projectors we carry through the paces, and you can see in our free projector setup tool how their positioning will influence light output.
Motorized Lens
The LS9000 features a high-quality, 15-element precision glass lens with powered focus, zoom, and lens shift capabilities. The lens cover is also motorized and automatically slides open when the projector powers on. Having a fully motorized lens at this price point is a big deal, especially considering that many projectors in this range still rely on manual adjustments. With those, you often have to stand at the projector and physically rotate the lens while someone else calls out from the screen to let you know when it's in focus. With the LS9000, you can fine-tune everything from focus to zoom to lens position using the remote from anywhere in your room. It makes setup easier, faster, and far more precise.
Additionally, the LS9000 offers ten motorized lens memory presets, which let you save and instantly recall different combinations of zoom, focus, and lens shift settings. This is especially useful if you’re using a widescreen 2.4:1 projector screen. For example, you can set one memory for standard 16:9 content and another for widescreen movies, then switch between them with the press of a button on the remote. No need to manually adjust the lens every time you change aspect ratios.
If you’ve ever dreamed of recreating that cinematic ultra-wide experience at home, lens memory is a key feature to look for. We’ve put together a detailed article all about how to enjoy widescreen movies in your home theater, including screen recommendations and setup tips. If that’s something you’re considering, we highly recommend checking it out.

When it comes to installation, the LS9000 has plenty of flexibility built in. With up to ±96 percent vertical and ±24 percent horizontal lens shift, you can mount it well above, below, or slightly off to the side of your screen and still get a clean, properly aligned image. The wide throw ratio of 1.35 to 2.84 also means it works well in both smaller rooms and larger dedicated theaters. However, if you can, we still suggest you mount it centered on the screen with the lens right at the top of the screen in height.
Light Source
The LS9000 features a fixed phosphor laser light engine that eliminates moving parts in the light path, resulting in quieter operation, lower heat output, and improved long-term reliability. Epson uses this solid-state laser diode array across its entire Pro Cinema lineup, and the LS9000 continues that tradition with a refined design rated for 20,000 hours of maintenance-free performance and outputs a solid 2,200 lumens of color and brightness.

This system that Epson has engineered is really something special. To start, laser light is converted to white, split into red, green, and blue using dichroic mirrors, and passed through Epson’s three-chip 3LCD imaging system, the same chip used in the LS12000. And unlike single-chip designs, this architecture displays 100% of the RGB color signal in every frame without any color wheel artifacts like rainbowing. It also avoids brightness loss and color distortion that can occur with other display technologies.
From there, a dual-axis shifting glass plate and four magnetic voice coil mechanisms, which operate at 240 cycles per second, effectively "paint" pixels into a full-resolution 4K image with over 8.29 million addressable pixels on screen. This high-speed pixel shifting allows the LS9000 to deliver 4K resolution on screen from 1080p transmissive panels. On paper, native 4K might sound better, but Epson’s method produces an image that will make you think you are seeing a native 4K projector that has incredible light output for its cost. That extra brightness makes a big difference in rooms with some ambient light or for viewers who want bold, vivid visuals without the projector running hot or loud. This is a step above Epson’s older 4K PRO-UHD system found in models like the LS800 or Pro Cinema 4050, which only produced around 4.15 million pixels on screen.
Another big factor that we found to be great to hear is that every part of this shifting system is engineered in-house by Epson. The panels, the lens, the optical engine, and even the motion system are all designed, built, and assembled within Epson’s own factories. This level of control ensures consistency and quality that is rare in consumer projectors.

We will point out that compared to the LS12000, the LS9000 does use fewer laser modules to help reduce cost, but you still get the same fast power-on capabilities, consistent brightness, and long-term stability that set Epson’s laser projectors apart from lamp-based alternatives. It’s a smart balance between performance, efficiency, and real-world usability, especially for dedicated theaters or rooms where brightness and reliability matter most.
Video Processing
All of this great technology and engineering doesn’t mean much if the projector can’t produce a bright, lifelike image that looks natural to your eyes. A big piece of that puzzle comes down to the picture processor inside. And even though the LS9000 is more budget-friendly, Epson still includes extremely advanced video processing with its 32-bit ZX picture processor. This chip handles real-time color, contrast, HDR tone mapping, frame interpolation, and resolution enhancement to reproduce your source material the way it was meant to be seen. While the XZ processor inside is quite impressive, we will note here that if you want to get dynamic tone mapping and enhanced black detail, you will need to step up to Epson’s Q-Series projectors, which start at almost double the cost.
With support for 4K resolution, HDR10, HDR10+, and HLG, the LS9000 delivers excellent dynamic range and smooth motion. We tested our unit in our home theater lab, where we run every projector we sell through a consistent set of evaluations under controlled conditions. Then, we like to test them in real-world spaces by pulling open the blinds and changing ambient light levels, so we can see how each projector performs when the environment isn’t ideal.
After initial setup and calibration of the LS9000, we played some of our favorite demo scenes through the new Kaleidescape Strato E. The first thing we noticed was how bright and vibrant the image looked, and how well it handled motion, even during fast action scenes. When we opened the blinds, the picture still held up well, with solid contrast and no obvious washout. The 2,200 lumens provides enough output for rooms with some ambient light, but if you can darken the space, the LS9000 really shines. Everyone who saw it assumed we were using a projector that cost far more.
While higher-end models in Epson’s lineup may offer greater dynamic range due to more laser light modules or the more advanced QZX processor, the LS9000 still delivers impressive shadow detail and depth in dark rooms. You get clean motion, strong brightness, and a stable image without rainbowing or color breakup. If you’ve experienced motion blur, jitter, or rainbow artifacts with other projectors, the LS9000 offers a noticeably more refined and consistent image.

Gaming Performance
For gamers, the LS9000 includes HDMI 2.1 ports with full support for 4K at 120Hz. It has very low input lag, making it a great choice for casual gaming and even responsive enough for many first-person shooters. You’ll get smooth, high-frame-rate performance when paired with the latest gaming consoles or PCs.
Connectivity
Installation professionals and advanced users will appreciate the LS9000’s broad compatibility with control systems. It supports Control4, Crestron, PJLink, AMX, and more. There’s also support for IP control, RS-232, 12V trigger output, and network-based remote monitoring. Inputs include two HDMI 2.1 ports, USB for power and firmware updates, LAN, RS-232c, and a 12V trigger.

Key Differences Between the LS9000B and LS12000B
While both the Epson Pro Cinema LS9000B and LS12000B share the same 8.3MP 4K 3LCD imaging system, laser light source, and HDMI 2.1 support for 4K at 120Hz, there are a few important distinctions that set them apart.
The LS12000B is the brighter of the two, delivering 2,700 lumens versus 2,200 lumens on the LS9000B. It also offers a higher native contrast ratio—5,000:1 compared to 1,800:1—resulting in deeper blacks and more dynamic image quality in dark scenes.
Another key difference is lens shift flexibility. Both models offer the same generous vertical lens shift, but the LS12000B provides a wider horizontal shift range at ±47%, compared to ±24% on the LS9000B. This makes the LS12000 easier to position in rooms where the projector needs to be mounted further off-center.
The LS12000 also includes a mounting bracket and cable cover in the box, which the LS9000 does not, so you’ll want to account for that when planning your setup.
Using our Home Theater Projector Tool, you can compare the LS9000 and LS12000 to see how each model fits into your specific layout. Both offer the same vertical placement range, but that extra horizontal shift on the LS12000 may be important depending on your room design. And if you’re unsure, our home theater experts are always available to help walk you through the details and find the perfect fit.
In short, the LS12000 is the higher-performance model, offering more brightness, better contrast, and greater installation flexibility. The LS9000, however, still delivers excellent image quality and shares the same advanced processing and HDR support at a significantly lower price, making it a fantastic value for dedicated home theaters.
Final Thoughts
The Epson Pro Cinema LS9000 is one of the most compelling new projectors we’ve seen in this price range. It blends Epson’s proven laser light engine and 3-chip LCD technology with modern features like HDMI 2.1, 4K HDR support, and smart home compatibility. It runs quietly, installs easily, and performs well across a wide range of content from movies and TV shows to high-frame-rate gaming.
If you’re considering the Epson LS12000 but want to save some money, the LS9000 offers nearly all the performance at a lower price. Overall, the Epson Pro Cinema LS9000 is a standout addition to Epson’s lineup and one of the best options available under $4,000 for a 4K home theater projector.
